If the Bengals want to find a #2 WR in the second-round of the NFL Draft tonight, they may look to one of the draft’s biggest boom-or-bust prospects in Alshon Jeffery. After being projected as a top-10-15 pick for much of his junior year, inconsistent QB play and playing at over 230 pounds caused his production to drop. Now he’s one of the most talented players on the board right now, but questions regarding rather he can maintain his weight make him a risky prospect.
Jeffery was a monster his true-sophomore year, catching 88 passes for 1,517 yards and 9 TDs en route to leadingSouth Carolinato its first SEC Championship appearance. Last year his production dropped off significantly as he faced more double-teams and his team had a QB controversy for much of the season, and his numbers dropped to 49 catches for 762 yards. He’ll never face a double-team in the NFL if he’s paired next to A.J. Green.
