Bengals Get A Steal With Cal WR Marvin Jones

I absolutely love this pick. The Bengals continue to get steal after steal of the 2012 draft. Marvin Jones from Cal was a WR that I was looking at around the time the Bengals drafted Mohamad Sanu. He has great size for a receiver at 6’2″ with a 33″ vertical. Can be used across from A.J. Green as a number 2. There could be a great competition here for the number 2 WR spot going into camp. This can certainly get very exciting.

Measurables

6’2″, 199 lbs., 33 1/8″ arms, 10.25″ hands.

4.46 forty yard dash, 22 bench press reps, 33 inch vertical jump, 6.81 3 cone drill4.11 20 yard shuttle, 11.47 60 yard shuttle

Pros

Long lean athlete with good deep speed (reminds me of the late Chris Henry). He does a terrific job creating separation with his routes and understands the concept of timing and spacing. He has great hands and is NFL ready right away.

Cons

He may not be as quick off the line as some other receivers, but has good deep speed. He doesn’t have great strength to get off of press coverage or to be a consistent down field blocker.
