Morning Headliners: Redskins release WR Jabar Gaffney

Dec 11, 2011; Landover, MD, USA; Washington Redskins wide receiver

The Redskins have released WR Jabar Gaffney after his recent twitter tirade.

The Oakland Raiders have parted ways with college scouting director Jon Kingdon. He must have scouted Carson Palmer and thought last year’s trade was good for the Raiders.

OT Andrew Whitworth took some of the Bengals’s draft picks to dinner over the weekend.

Bills General Manager Buddy Nix talked about how he expects their first-round pick, CB Stephon Gilmore, won’t just cover wide receivers, but will also be relied upon to cover tight ends such as Rob Gronkowski.

The 49ers tried to sign WR Randy Moss a year ago, but he chose retirement instead.

Former NFL players William Joseph, Michael Bennett, and Louis Gachelin have been arrested by the FBI and are now being charged with filing false tax returns in other people’s names and then stealing their refunds.
