Russell Baxter of Football Pros broke down the drafts of each of the 4 teams in the AFC North, and once again, the Bengals were given high praise for killing it on draft day this year:
Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals have strung together several solid drafts as of late and this latest edition appears no different, although there seems to be varying opinions on Kirkpatrick actually being a “shutdown corner,” per say. Meanwhile, the versatile Zeitler is expected to lock up a starting job at right guard and also has experience at center. Still and Thompson should add some more depth to a defensive line rotation than took a few hits during free agency, while Sanu and Charles will give second-year QB Andy Dalton a few more targets to develop rapport with.
Baxter praised all 4 teams for the most part for solid drafts, and it appears the gap between all 4 teams may be as narrow as its ever been with the declines of the Steelers, the Ravens’ loss of OLB/DE Terrell Suggs, the Brown’s addition of arguably the draft’s best non-QB prospect in RB Trent Richardson, and another solid draft by the Bengals. The AFC North will be fun to watch this season.
