All-Time Top 5: Bengals Kickers

Today I am going to give you my rankings for the Top 5 Kickers in Bengals history. This is not an exact science. What I did to come up with my list was look at a player’s career strictly while they were with the Bengals organization. I may make a mention about their careers before or after, but I only used what they did in a Bengals uniform to rank them on this list. I looked at the length of their career. I feel that should get some consideration. I also looked at intangibles and what I witnessed personally. I just want to give everyone a little background into some of what I took into consideration when making this list. I feel I was objective and let the players careers speak for themselves. If you agree or disagree, please feel free to let me know. If you disagree, tell me who you would have ranked differently and why. I enjoy the feedback.

Just Missed

Mike Nugent, Cincinnati Bengals, 2010-present

This really was a tough call. Nugent has been a solid kicker for the Bengals. The biggest strike against him is the amount time he has been in Cincinnati. I went back and forth putting him in the fifth spot and then taking him back out. The numbers just couldn’t allow me to do it. If Mike stays with the Bengals for a couple of more seasons, he could easily take over the fifth and maybe even fourth spot on this list. Nugent is extremely accurate and has a strong leg. It’s almost automatic when he is brought in to kick. I thought this list would be easier than some of the others, but this was really a difficult choice.

By the Numbers: 2 seasons, 48 field goals made, 50 extra points made, 194 points, and an 84.2% field goal percentage

good info Joe, but my all time favorite, because of his down to earth charitable attributes, his profession of faith, Pelfrey is my all time favorite.  Even in Florida, still have a soft spot for him.  Good info.  Of course, as I know you, you are in the know.  good article.
