Linebacker

Another position that has seen a fair share of changes over the off-season is at linebacker. Not because of bringing in new players, but because of certain incidents that these players have encountered since the 2011 season ended. Middle linebacker, Rey Maualuga is currently facing a possible suspension from an incident at a bar during the off-season. Matters recently got worse when Dontay Moch, a promising linebacker was suspended for 4 games for using illegal substances. The Bengals also traded Keith Rivers to the New York Giants before the draft. The key to this linebacker corps is having Thomas Howard and Manny Lawson back on the field again. With the question mark at middle linebacker, it’s good to have two solid veterans at each of the outside linebacker positions. Look for the Bengals to potentially sign another veteran linebacker to the roster because of the suspensions and lack of depth. Taking over for Maualuga in the middle will be Dan Skuta who is the only other experienced linebacker on the Bengals roster. The state of the linebackers all revolves around the play in the middle and the hope that the Bengals can avoid injury at the position.
