Altogether the Bengals had 45 sacks last season, a career high for a Zimmer led defense. That being said there is no reason to doubt that this squad will only improve. The defense was 9th in the league in scoring, 7th in yards allowed (9th vs the pass, 10th vs the run).

Marvin Lewis and the front office have done a good job in the offseason of adding more pieces for Zimmer to work with. They drafted corner Dre Kirkpatrick, defensive tackle Devon Stills, safety George Iloka, linebacker Vontaze Burfict and added free-agents like Terence Newman, Jamaal Anderson, and Jason Allen who may get time at safety where the Bengals are thinnest.

Leon Hall will be returning from injury which may be the biggest addition yet. All in all this Bengals defense should thrive under Zimmer with a full offseason and added depth and will improve on what turned out to be a greatly succesful season.

@RFranklinKSR He’s the closest thing to a 2nd head coach you’ll find in NFL. His defense has carried the Bengals since he got here.
