The AFC North continues to be one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. It is almost impossible to predict which team will come out on top after any given season. It is a physical division that emphasizes defense (all four teams finished in the top 10 in total defense last season). This division is known also for its physicality on the line of scrimmage, as these teams tend to grind it out to win a divisional football game. To win in the AFC North, ball control and field position are always key.

Each team in the AFC North has good things going for them as well as things that need to be improved for the 2012 season. Before the season begins, these teams can begin to be evaluated on the health of their franchise. Let’s break down all four teams in the division in the order of which they finished the 2011 season.
