3rd Jacksonville Jaguars – 5-11
Last year the Jaguars offense was bad, not just bad, it was awful. The one bright spot in Maurice Jones-Drew is now holding out for a new contract and he doesn’t seem to be budging on this one. However with as bad as that offense was this team still won 5 games, and this offense can’t be any worse right?
The Jaguars added a pair of WR’s to try and help Blaine Gabbert out. Laurent Robinson had a monster year last year in Dallas. However there is cause for concern because that was the only year in which he had this kind of production. And let’s be honest with ourselves, Gabbert is no Romo back there. They also added stud WR Justin Blackmon in the draft. However he is just a rookie and even though both A.J. Green and Julio Jones put up big numbers last year, it generally takes rookie WR’s a year to make a big impact. What they need is a big year out of their talented TE Marcedes Lewis. He disappointed tremendously last year and will be looking to reestablish himself as a premier TE in this league.
This team however was led by it’s defense last year. They finished 5th against the run and pass last year. If they want to be a great defense however they will need to generate more pressure on the QB. They only tallied 31 sacks last year. Jeremy Mincey led the team with 8 sacks and will have either 2nd round rookie Andre Branch or Austen Lane starting across from him.
