Statistically speaking, every year since 1996 six of the twelve play-off teams from the previous year return to the post season while the other six do not.  More accurately, the number is 6.14, but more importantly, no fewer than five teams have repeated during the same time period.  One may look at the last year’s play-off teams and consider it difficult to only see six of them reclaiming past glory, but we must remember that numbers don’t lie.  Further, any forecasting of up-and-coming teams as well as those on the down swing must take into account current schedules and previous wild card admissions as well as off-season drafting and free agency.  Unbelievable as they may seem, here’s some considerations for next January.
