AFC North Headlines: Ed Reed not Holding out, & Mike Wallace Extension Coming Soon

The Steelers remain optimistic about a new contract for restricted free agent Mike Wallace before training camp.

Two days before the 2011 season opener, Ed Reed reportedly turned down a multi-year offer from the Ravens

An Ed Reed family member has stated that Reed’s not going to hold out on the Ravens.

The Browns have chosen to opt out of the new blackout policy.

The Ravens and franchised RB Ray Rice agreed on a five-year, $40 million deal at the very last second before yesterday’s 4 pm deadline to sign franchised players to long-term extensions.

How close were David Fulcher and Barry Larkin to lining up as the safeties for the Bengals? Back in the 1986 NFL Draft, the Bengals considered selecting Larkin, who will be inducted this weekend into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Former Bengals RB Cedric Benson is desperate to sign with an NFL team before training camp starts:

The Steelers have re-signed LT Max Starks to a one-year contract. The former third-round pick out of Florida has been one of the more consistent Steerlers lineman, but injuries have plagued his career recently and led to the team letting him go this offseason. One has to wonder if this means the team isn’t sold on 2nd-round pick Mike Adams, who slid to the Steelers late in the 2nd-round after being projected as a 1st-rounder for much of the NFL draft process.

RB/WR Chris Rainey could be an X-Factor for Steelers as a rookie.

Vikings OC Bill Musgrave “can’t rave enough” about how valuable former Bengals WR Jerome Simpson’s speed will be on the outside.
