Rough for
#Bengals CBs: Promising rookie Shaun Prater (knee) will be placed on IR, per source. 4 month recovery, back for conditioning— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 5, 2012
Prater was already in a dogfight for a roster spot, and this move may be to ensure the Bengals can hold onto his rights without cutting him and risking him not making it to their practice squad in the same manner Dezmon Briscoe was lost. The move was made so Prater could have surgery to clean up around his patella tendon. He’ll have plenty of opportunities next year to make the squad with Nate Clements, Adam Jones, Jeromy Miles, and Terrence Newman having expiring contracts.
