The following Bengals will not suit up for tonight’s preseason bout against the Falcons: CB Brandon Ghee, CB Adam Jones, CB Jason Allen, CB Dre Kirkpatrick, CB Scott, Prater, RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis, S Tony Dye, MLB Rey Maualuga, WR Ryan Whalen, DE Robert Geathers, DE Carlos Dunlap, and DT Pat Sims. That means the team will be down as many as four potential opening day starters.
This means that the Bengals will suit only six CBs up in uniform tonight. Leon Hall, Nate Clements, and Terrence Newman expect to get most of the first-team reps, while T.J. Heath, Chris Lewis-Harris, and converted WR Taveon Rogers will get the rest of the reps.
Clint Boling will be the new starting left guard after previous starter Travelle Wharton tore his ACL, along with Jamaal Anderson getting the nod at DE in place of Dunlap, and Brian Leonard will be the starting RB tonight. Cedric Peerman is expected to get plenty of run with the first-team offense as well. Roddrick Muckleroy gets the starting nod at MLB in place of Maualuga.
Strong safety Taylor Mays did suffer a concussion last Friday night against the Jets, but has been cleared for tonight’s game.
