Through a talented, young roster, and what appears to finally be a stable front office, the Bengals are seeking that elusive staying power after historically being nothing more than a one-year playoff wonder.

Former Bengals fullback James Develin has been signed onto the Patriots practice squad. Develin spent the entire regular season and postseason the practice squad last year with the Bengals.

DT Vaughn Meatoga, who was released by Bengals on Friday, has landed on the Raiders practice squad.

Former Bengals great Cris Collinsworth sees a bright future for the team he once called his own, but says his former team will have a tough road to return to the playoffs this season.

Pete Prisco of CBSSports compiled a list of the best remaining NFL players post-cutdown day, and making the list were two former Bengals in MLB Roddrick Muckelroy and TE Colin Cochart. Perhaps their days as Bengals aren’t over, depending on how the team handles the new IR rule, as well as any potential trades they may swing between now and opening night.

Yahoo sports takes a look at 5 players the Bengals have lost due to injury or free agency that the team will greatly miss when the regular season rolls around.
