Morning Headlines: Jaguars to start Rashad Jennings, & Cowboys/Giants Injury News

Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew ended his holdout and reported to the team on Sunday and will likely be ready to play in the teams’ week 1 opener, though the Jaguars still intend to start Rashad Jennings over Jones-Drew in Week 1 at Minnesota.

 

Panthers WR Steve Smith was a full participant in his return to Panthers practice Sunday as he recovers from a foot injury and appears ready for the regular-season opener.

 

Giants Defensive Coordinator Perry Fewell stated Sunday that CB Michael Coe will start in Week 1 against the Cowboys opposite Corey Webster.

 

Cowboys TE Jason Witten will undergo another scan on Tuesday to gauge the progress of his lacerated spleen, and is all but guaranteed to miss the opener against the Giants.

 

Giants WR Domenik Hixon will open the season as the team’s third receiver.

 

The Cardinals placed OT Jeremy Bridges on injured reserve with a torn left thumb ligament, ending his season.

 

After the Bengals announced their list of roster cuts which included MLB Roddrick Muckelroy, it proves the team is banking on controversial rookie linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

 

Rams first-round pick Michael Brockers’ ankle injury should only cost him 2-4 weeks.

 

The Chargers offensive line continues to be injury-plagued, and undrafted rookie Mike Harris will start at left tackle for the team early in the season. They’ve already ruled out LT Jared Gaither for Week 1 against the Raiders with a lower back injury.
