Scouting the AFC North: Injury Updates on Steelers' David DeCastro and Browns' Trent Richardson

After undergoing successful knee surgery for multiple injuries to the MCL and ACL, the Steelers are expected to designate rookie right guard David DeCastro as their injured reserve player that is eligible for activation after eight weeks. This means if the talented rookie will see any playing time this season, it won’t be until mid-way through the season, and the team already likes how Ramon Foster has performed in his absence.

It now looks as though Browns rookie runningback Trent Richardson may play in the teams’ opener against the Eagles.

The Steelers have turned back to veteran offensive tackle Max Starks as their starting left tackle.

Browns LB Kaluka Maiava has had to fill in for injured starters before, but never when the Browns still were playing meaningful games. Now he may get his chance with a string of injuries at linebacker.

The Ravens have signed reserve safety James Ihedigbo, formerly of the Patriots.

Browns backup QB Colt McCoy’s attitude helped him win the backup QB role over Seneca Wallace, who wound up being cut in favor of McCoy.

The Bengals are banking on controversial rookie linebacker Vontaze Burfict.
