Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall looked impressive in the teams’ Monday practice session, and they have yet to rule him out for Week 1 after he’s recovered very well from his offseason ACL Surgery and is likely to play sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, Head Coach Mike Tomlin stated that the current projected starting back, Isaac Redman, must get over his ankle injury to start at Denver Sunday night.
The Ravens have agreed to a restructured contract with disgruntled LT Bryant McKinnie. The new deal reduced his $3.2 million base salary, and leaves McKinnie a free agent in 2013. He reportedly came close to retiring rather than taking the paycut.
Browns RB Trent Richardson is looking ready to play in Cleveland’s opener against the Eagles on Sunday.
Steelers safety Ryan Clark will not play on Sunday night against the Broncos because of the health risks involved with playing at high altitude.
Bengals defensive-end Robert Geathers practiced yesterday for the first time since July after missing all of the preseason with a knee injury, and looks probable to start Monday night vs. the Ravens with normal starter Carlos Dunlap highly questionable with a severe knee sprain. Middle linebacker Rey Maualuga (sprained knee) is also expected to start.
