Morning NFL Headlines: Several Prominent Runningbacks on the Fence for Week 1

Vikings offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave was asked today if he had any doubt whether All-Pro runningback Adrian Peterson would be ready to play Sunday. He simply responded “No, not too much doubt.” Adjust your fantasy lineups accordingly.

The Panthers won’t make the call on RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) until Friday, but it would be surprising to see the back suit up Sunday.

Bills Head Coach Gailey said they think they’ll get Stevie Johnson back tomorrow for practice after he missed much of the past few weeks of practice. The anticipation is that he will play, and Johnson doesn’t expect his groin injury to become a nagging ailment like his 2011 groin injury.

Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (back spasms) returned to a limited practice on Thursday.

The Steelers will sign former Raiders CB DeMarcus Van Dyke.

Bears MLB Brian Urlacher did not practice Thursday, and has already stated his practice reps would be limited in preparation for the Colts.

Colts rookie RB Vick Ballard is expected to enter the season as the primary backup to Donald Brown.
