The Bengals officially declared RB Bernard Scott, DE Carlos Dunlap, CBs Jason Allen and Dre Kirkpatrick, TEs Donald Lee and Richard Quinn, and WR Ryan Whalen inactive for today’s game against the Browns.
Its also being reported that rookie middle linebacker Vontze Burfict will be starting at weakside linebacker in place of the injured Thomas Howard, who tore his ACL during practice this week and was placed on the injured reserve list. It will be the first career start for the former All-American out of Arizona State, who at one time was projected as a top-10 NFL Draft pick, but a disastrous junior season saw his stock plummet, knocking him right out of the draft and into the Bengals’ laps. Now he’s getting his chance to show that he is still capable of reclaiming his 2010 form at ASU, where he was arguably the most dominant linebacker in college football.
The Browns have deactivated QB Thaddeus Lewis, RB Brandon Jackson, CB Ray Ventrone, LB Tank Carder(and former TCU teammate of Andy Dalton), LB James-Michael Johnson, and OT Oniel Cousins for the game.
