Morning Headlines: Stanford tops USC, and Browns' Brandon Weeden Ready to let it Rip

Even though Browns QB Brandon Weeden threw 4 interceptions in his NFL debut, offensive coordinator Brad Childress says he still wants Weeden to fire away, and doesn’t want him to focus solely on being more careful with the ball.

ESPN Cleveland reports that Browns CB Dimitri Patterson will be assigned to covering A.J. Green in coverage in the Bengals/Browns matchup while Joe Haden sits out while serving a 4-game suspension.

In college football, the story of the day was preseason #1 USC losing on the road at #21 Stanford, 21-14. Cardinal QB Josh Nunes threw the go-ahead 37-yard TD to Zach Ertz with 10:20 left, and RB Stepfan Taylor ran for 153 yards and a pair of TDs as the Cardinal defense held Heisman front-runner Matt Barkley to 20/41 passing with two INTs and no TDs.

Falcons WR Roddy White (groin) is listed as questionable, but is expected to play.

Giants CB Prince Amukamara (ankle) is expected to play in Week 2 against the Buccaneers.

Redskins WR Pierre Garcon (questionable, foot) is not expected to play in Week 2 against the Rams.

Panthers stricken as illness hits locker room.

Titans MLB Colin McCarthy (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 2 against the Chargers.

Browns RB Trent Richardson is ready to rumble this week after last week’s NFL debut saw him only muster 39 yards on 19 carries.
