The Bengals announced today they’ve placed starting defensive-end Jamaal Anderson on the season-ending Injured Reserve list. and sign free agent DE Wallace Gilberry, who saw action for the Kansas City Chiefs in 54 career games. He played in every game from 2009-11, and has 14 career sacks. He’s in his 5th-year in the NFL after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut him prior to the start of the 2012 season.
Gilberry joined the Chiefs in 2008 as an undrafted free-agent out of Alabama, where he went on to have a pructive 4-year career before the team opted not to resign him at the end of the 2011 season. He was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the offseason, but was later released on September 14. He’s more of a situational pass-rusher, as evidenced by having only 56 career tackles in 4 years, so expect to see him on passing-downs exclusively. He had a game against the Rams in 2010 in which he recorded 3 sacks, so he does know how to get to the quarterback.
