Morning Headlines: Santonio Holmes has Lisfranc Injury, & the push for Tim Tebow

The push for Jets backup QB Tim Tebow to start will begin sooner rather than later with the Jets spiraling out of contention and Mark Sanchez playing the worst he’s played in his fourth year in the NFL. Meanwhile, WR Santonio Holmes has been diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury, and is expected to sideline him for the majority of the season.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is disappointed with his team’s 34-18 loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday night, as well as the lack of focus and effort the team displayed, as he believes they have the talent to win, but simply aren’t utilizing it properly.

Falcons WR Julio Jones is suffering from a hand injury that is hindering his play but isn’t expected to sideline him for any period of time.

Five rookie quarterbacks have not missed a snap in 2012.

Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey resumed practicing on Tuesday as he recovers form his concussion suffered in Week 3 vs. the Steelers, and may be ready to play vs. the Falcons this week.

Rams announce that Thursday night’s game will be televised locally.

Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall will have to pass a knee strength test this week to make his 2012 debut versus the Eagles. LB James Harrison (knee) and safety Troy Polamalu (calf) will likely play in Sunday as well.

The Dolphins made a receiver swap Tuesday, signing Jabar Gaffney and then cutting Legedu Naanee.

Browns Head Coach Pat Shurmur hinted that rookie WR Josh Gordon’s role could be expanded in the near future.
