Could We See Dre Kirkpatrick against the Browns?

It wasn’t supposed to happen until the after the Bengals’ bye week against the Denver Broncos. That doesn’t exactly add up to what we’re hearing now.

Dre Kirkpatrick practiced full-go for the second straight week after Friday, and Head Coach Marvin Lewis could be found very upbeat on the rookie’s chances of making his debut this week.  He’s currently listed as questionable on the injury report, but he’s shown no sign of the knee injury that has plagued him since training camp.  That could be a very good sign for a defense clawing up the rankings to try and get to where they were last year.

Back when they finished the league ranked 7th in overall defense. It would certainly give the Bengals some ideas to play with.  With the ever-solid Leon Hall, and Terrence Newman manning the other side, Lewis could play some miss-and-matching to get a feel for Kirkpatrick in game situations.  And the sooner that happens, the sooner we can see our first-rounder in action.
