The Bengals are in desperate need of a shot in the arm to get themselves past two gut-wrenching defeats to the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins the past two weeks, who were a combined 1-8 when Week 5 began, and many were predicting the Bengals to enter Sunday night’s showdown with Pittsburgh at 5-1 and tied for the division lead in the AFC North. Now they’re reeling and in need of a boost that they may be getting soon in the form of the 17th-overall pick of the 2012 Draft in Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick. He’s returned to practice and appears to be fully healthy after suffering from a knee injury through much of the offseason. Head Coach Marvin Lewis is impressed and hasn’t ruled out playing him this week vs. the pass-happy Steelers.

Lewis had this to say about how he’s been impressed with what he’s seen from Dre:

I’ve been more impressed with Dre Kirkpatrick now than when he was in rookie camp. I’ve been really impressed with Dre. Competing well. He’s been taking a lot of reps.

Joe Reedy also posted this video of Kirk in the locker room:
