I know it’s early, but I have to ask this question: Who can the Bengals draft in this upcoming draft? Will they draft a runningback like South Carolina’s Marcus Lattimore? Wisconsin’s Montee Ball? Could it be a safety like Eric Reid (LSU) or USC’s T.J. McDonald? Needless to say, these two positions are the two biggest voids within the Cincinnati Bengals squad. Benjarvus Green-Ellis has been nothing more than a disappointment and the secondary has been terrible at times.
Both could easily be fixed with a draft pick though. Montee Ball is a monster back that owns the NCAA single season record for touchdowns in a season (39), would be a great option. Both he and Marcus Lattimore are Heisman candidates, with Ball being a Heisman finalist last year. Eric Reid, playing with that LSU defense, is automatically elite. He was tied with fellow tiger Tyrann Mathieu with 76 tackles a season ago. There are quite a few options, it’s just up to the Bengals organization to make the right move.
Notable RBs eligible to enter the 2013 NFL Draft:
Montee Ball (Wisconsin)
Marcus Lattimore (South Carolina)
Stephon Taylor (Stanford)
Silas Redd (USC)
Notable Safeties eligible for the 2013 NFL Draft:
Eric Reid (LSU)
T.J. McDonald (USC)
John Boyette (Oregon)
Matt Elam (Florida)
With these and so many more options, it is hard for the Bengals to not be intrigued. This is all great to look at, but the focus needs to be on the rest of the year, starting Sunday night against the Steelers. Take it one game at a time, and make the playoffs before you worry about the draft. Just keep these eight names in the back of your mind.
