NFL News and Views: Week 8 Injury Headlines

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported yesterday that Jaguars runningback Maurice Jones-Drew avoided a Lisfranc injury, but is still expected to miss the next few games. He injured the foot in the first-quarter of Sunday’s overtime loss to the Raiders, and he was subsequently carted off the field with what appeared to be a season-ending injury.

After suffering a broken collarbone that will sideline him for at least the next month, Packers cornerback Charles Woodosn is likely in his last months as a Green Bay Packer. He is currently scheduled to have a salary of $9 million, a price too steep to pay a 36-year-old corner, despite still playing close to a Pro Bowl level.

The Dallas Cowboys fear that starting middle linebacker Sean Lee will need season-ending surgery on his right big toe that he injured during the teams’ 19-14 win over the Panthers on Sunday.

While his play on the field leaves much to be desired, Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert’s toughness is hard to question as he will play through a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder he just suffered on Sunday.

The Browns are discussing shutting down rookie RB Trent Richardson through Week 10 as he recovers from a significant rib injury that has greatly hindered his production over the past two weeks.
