This is the forty-fifth season of the Cincinnati Bengals and they haven’t had back to back winning seasons in 30 years. Mike Brown has never done it. I never met Paul Brown, so I did a little research and found this from Wikipedia in reference to him, “His controlling personality and sharp criticisms made him unpopular with many players.[3] Brown was methodical and disciplined, and tolerated no deviation from his system.”

So we know that the brilliant football mind wasn’t passed to Mike, but the inability to deviate from his system was. This is why the Bengals are in this position. I don’t know what this organization doesn’t do that teams like Pittsburgh, New England, and Green Bay do, but whatever it was it was enough to make Carson Palmer find joy in a team that has been more poorly ran than Cincinnati has in the last 10 seasons.

Mike Brown has a young roster that everyone agrees has talent. With the most talented being AJ Green and Geno Atkins. The fear I have is those guys being “Bengalized”, which is definitely a derogatory term. For whatever reason the Bengals have gotten some talented guys on this roster, and they had better figure it out before the next crew decides to jump ship.

Now the Giants are coming to town, and Cincinnati will have to play their best game in two seasons to win. This game isn’t just for saving the season. This is to save the franchise, because I believe a loss will start the cycle all over again. Play with some pride.
