Despite going into last night’s game as a heavy favorite, the Pittsburgh Steelers needed a overtime to overcome the Kansas City Chiefs by a 16-13 score on Monday Night Football. After 4 quarters of less-than-inspiring football in the cold Pittsburgh rain, the Steelers made the game-deciding play of the first overtime possession after LB Lawrence Timmons intercepted Chiefs QB Matt Cassel and returned it to the 5 yard-line, and kicker Shaun Suisham booted in the game=-winning field goal.
The win wasn’t without a heavy price, as the team lost Pro Bowl quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to a right shoulder injury. Roethlisberger left early in the third quarter after getting slammed to the turf by Kansas City LB Justin Houston. Head Coach Mike Tomlin said he was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and the latest report is Ben suffered a sprain shoulder, but will undergo further evaluation today.
