Raiders Head Coach Dennis Allen has said that he’s hopeful their talented but oft-injured runningback Darren McFadden will return for Sunday as they come to Cincinnati to face-off against the Bengals The team is cautiously optimistic McFadden can return this week after missing the past two games after injuring his ankle in Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While he has yet to participate in a full practice, the former Arkansas Razorback has done some light practice work.
In 8 games this season, McFadden has 139 carries for 455 yards (3.3 ypc) and two touchdowns. While those numbers don’t stand out, he is capable of busting off big runs, as highlighted by his 64-yarder against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3, the same Steelers D that is ranked 4th in the NFL in rushing defense.
If he is unable to suit up, fullback Marcel Reece is coming off a 19 carry, 103 yard (5.4) performance against the New Orleans Saints last week, so the Raiders run-game will still be a legitimate threat with or without McFadden.
