NFL News: Alex Smith & Michael Vick Likely Out. Nick Foles & Colin Kaepernick In

49ers starting QB Alex Smith (concussion) has  reportedly been medically cleared to play in live action, but the team is still planning to start Colin Kaepernick in Week 12. This has become one of the more interesting stories to watch in the NFL, as the 49ers hold the second-best record in the NFC and look primed for a Super Bowl run if Capernick continues to play the way he did against the Chicago Bears on Monday night. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman has said that no decision has been made on the teams’ starting QB.

The Thanksgiving NFL triple header kicked off Week 12 yesterday, as the Patriots, Texans, and Redskins were all victorious as they head home for the holidays on a winning not.

Cowboys WR Miles Austin will have an MRI on his hip Friday after straining it in the teams’ 38-31 loss to the Redskins.

Despite Eagles starting QB Michael Vick showing improvements for his concussion, the former Pro Bowler will not be cleared in time for Monday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, and rookie Nick Foles will make his second straight start.
