Sanu will undergo surgery Monday to repair a stress fracture sustained in Thursday’s practice, and Head Coach Marvin Lewis said he could be lost for the season.
Rookie wide receiver Mohamed Sanu has been a revelation for the Bengals and has been a key contributor to the teams three-game winning streak in which he’s caught the first four touchdowns of his career.
Those have also come in the first three starts of his career, and what looked like one of the biggest questions coming into 2012 as to finding a #2 receiver for A.J. Green has been answered at least temporarily. Then came word yesterday that Sanu appeared to have suffered a foot injury and is meeting with the team’s medical staff this morning.
Then came word from Geoff Hobson that Sanu isn’t even at the Bengals’ practice facility as of now:
No sign of Sanu in locker room, so it doesn’t look like he’s practicing Friday for #Bengals.

It would look as though he got a bad diagnosis this morning, and now looks unlikely to play Sunday. Or perhaps it’s just case of him needing some extra rest and he will be good to go vs. the Chargers. Either way, this is concerning news. Hopefully the injury doesn’t keep him out a substantial amount of time.
