Offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth know he’ll have his hands full Sunday when he’s faced with the task of blocking All-Pro outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware, but believes he’s up to the challenge of blocking one of the NFL’s premier pass-rushers, who earlier this season became second only to hall-of-fame defensive end Reggie White with 85 sacks in his first 100 games:
He’s the best, no question. He’s the best. It’s not much different. Even if I didn’t know DeMarcus, I know the challenge that is ahead. I know what kind of guy he is. He’s a tremendous guy, tremendous character and he’s going to play 180 miles an hour the entire game. That’s just his style; you’ll have your hands full.
Bryan Broaddus of Dallascowboys.com did a great video breakdown of Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins, and it is a must-watch for anyone who wants to see just how dominant a player Atkins has become.
Despite not having kicked at all in the 2012 season, newly signed kicker Josh Brown has the confidence of Marvin Lewis, who thinks Brown is a great fit for his young Bengals squad:
He’s a real competent player. he’s done a great job in a day and a half being here. Being a mature guy helps and he has fit in with the team.
According to Pro Football Focus, the Bengals have the fourth-best offensive line in the league, trailing only the 49ers, Patriots and Saints. An offensive line featuring two rookies and a second-year player is rated the second-best in pass protection and 16th in run blocking:
