It would be easy for the Bengals to sulk in their loss to the Cowboys on Sunday, but CB Terrence Newman is keeping the team spirit up with a pretty funny assessment of his defensive line, which is currently leading the NFL with 42 sacks:
The last couple weeks you got these dudes up front that are like guys who have been locked down in prison for 30 years then they get out they see the quarterback as some hot supermodel. That’s how they come off the ball, like, hey, she’s mine. Not saying that quarterbacks are females, but that shows they come off the ball. They’ve been doing their job for sure.
When the Bengals head to Philly for a rare Thursday night game, the Eagles will be without starting TE Brent Celek, who played high school football at La Salle High School in Cincinnati before playing collegiality at the University of Cincinnati. Clay Harbor will take his spot after a productive game vs the Buccaneers in which he caught six passes for 52 yards, both of which were career highs.
Bengals CB Dre Kirkpatrick is still undergoing concussion tests, and he believes he could be ready for Thursday’s game vs. the Eagles, but knows he has to pass his required tests before getting clearance to play:
Like I told them, they’ve got to go through the procedures. They’ve got to go through all the treatment. I just feel like it was just a head-banger. I don’t feel like it was what you would consider a concussion. But if that’s what they want to consider it as, it’s cool with me. I just feel like it was just one of those plays where you hit a helmet and, whoa, where the hell am I at? One of those plays where you snap back.
