Coming into Week 15, two teams that had yet to clinch playoff spots but were close to being locked in were the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens. However, both teams lost Sunday, making the AFC playoff picture much more interesting heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.
The Raven were shellacked at home by the Denver Broncos by a 34-17 score, and after it looking like a mortal lock that they would win the AFC North, they could wind up letting it slip through their fingers if they can’t win one of their next two games. If the Ravens lose next week and the Bengals win, Week 17 between the Bengals and Ravens will determine the AFC North Champs. If the Bengals and Ravens would both finish 10-6, Baltimore wins the tiebreak based on better division record.
The Ravens have already qualified for the playoffs due to the Steelers’ loss Sunday to the Dallas Cowboys. If the Bengals were to beat the Steelers and lose to the Ravens, Pittsburgh would make it with a win over Cleveland based on better division record.
The Colts lost at Houston to the Texans, 29-17, who are now the AFC south champs, but if they can win one of their next to games against the Kansas City Chiefs or a rematch at home in Week 17 against the Texans, they’ll likely clinch a playoff berth. If the Bengals finish with a tie with the Colts, Indy would get in based on having a better division record.
Bottom-line: Just Win Baby!
