This week’s events may be a clear sign that Mike Brown needs to invest in getting the Bengals a practice bubble, starting weakside linebacker Vontaze Burfict sat out Friday’s practice because of an illness that is believed to be the flu. It’s unclear how serious the illness is and if it will affect his ability to play on Sunday.
Meanwhile starting defensive end Carlos Dunlap missed Wednesday’s practice with an illness (also believed to be the flu). This has become a yearly occurrence towards the end of the season with Cincinnati. If you recall, Andy Dalton was hit with the flu bug the week of the teams’ playoff game against the Houston Texans. Dalton finished that game 24/42 for 257 yards and three interceptions with no touchdowns in one of the worst games of his career.
