Scouting the AFC North: Browns to Axe Pat Shurmur

The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting the Browns are expected to fire head coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Tom Heckert on Monday after the teams’ regular-season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Shurmur sports a 9-22 record in Celveland, including a 2-9 mark in the AFC North.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced today they’ve placed WR Mike Wallace (hip), RT Mike Adams (ankle), and CB Curtis Brown (ankle) on the injured reserve list. The team also signed WR David Gilreath and DT Alameda Ta’amu from the team’s practice squad and claimed DT Hebron Fangupo off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.

Last week’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals may have been the last game for Wallace as a Steeler, as the unrestricted free agent has already said he knows his days in Pittsburgh may be over. While he’ll have finished the 2012 season with just 64 catches for 836 yards, he’s expected to be one of the top free agent prizes of the offseason.
