Bengals safety Robert Sands was arrested Friday morning after allegedly assaulting his wife. He has been charged with assault and domestic violence following the incident at his home Friday morning.
Sands was originally drafted by the Bengals in the fifth-round in the 2011 NFL Draft out of West Virginia. After playing seldomly in 2011, he spent the entire 2012 season on injured reserve following surgery in August for a chest injury.
Sands was already looking being a long-shot to make next years’ roster with Reggie Nelson Chris Crocker, George Iloka, Taylor Mays, and Jeromy Miles all being ahead of him on the depth chart before he war placed on IR this preseason. It’s an unfortunate development, and even if it turns out he’s innocent, the chances of him being in strips next year are very dire now. Hopefully he can find greener pastures elsewhere.
