Zimmer Watch: Browns to Interview Mike Zimmer. Chargers Interested

 UPDATE 11:50 AM

The Cleveland Browns may be pulling a fast one on their Ohio rivals,  as they’ll interview Mike Zimmer for their vacant head-coaching job. Zimmer told Cincinnati reporters on Monday that he hadn’t heard from any teams about a head coaching job.

While it would be painful to lose him, Zimmer is as deserving of this job as anyone, as he brings a resume that includes 18 years in the NFL and five years at the DC of the Bengals’ defense, in which they’ve ranked in the top-10 in three of his four seasons.

This year, the defense finished the regular season ranked in the top 10 in total defense (319.7 yards per game) and scoring defense (20.0 points allowed per game) for the third time since Zimmer arrived in Cincinnati, and also set a team record with 51 sacks.

Tampa Bay and Miami interviewed Zimmer for their head coaching positions after last season, but was passed over and signed a contract extension with the Bengals before this past season.
