It remains to be seen how all these new rules will play out this offseason, as the Law of Unintended Consequences often can come into play with new CBA rules. We’ve seen this happen in Major League Baseball, where hard slotting and spending limits on international signings were instituted help small market owners, but instead removed their ability to lock up young, cheap talent.
The NFL system of course is very different than baseball, but football owners certainly will look for any loopholes they can find, and we will see if this new in cash floor leads to more competitive spending by the Bengals. I’m hopeful though—it’s not like Brown could get much cheaper on player salaries.

I have rooted for the Bengals since I was six years old, which has included dressing up as Ken Anderson for Halloween, shedding real tears at the end of Super Bowl XXIII, and a general depression that lasted throughout most of the 1990s. It's great to see the team finally pointed in the right direction the last few years. Go Bengals!
