Are the Bengals returning to the “Bungles”?

As you probably already heard, Andre Smith was arrested for trying to board a plane with a gun. This caused an uproar as people who see the Bengals as a bunch of criminals and thugs, finally had something to base that on. Those people as most of you know, are idiots. If you look closer into the facts, Smith accidently had a handgun in his belongings which he completely forgot was in there leading to his arrest.

Was it a stupid mistake?

Yes.

Does this make Smith a criminal and a thug?

No.

The Bengals coaching staff and front office have done an excellent job at fixing past criminals/head cases,  such as Adam Jones and Vontaze Burfict, and when they thought they were too much to handle they stayed away. The Bengals have only had three arrests in the past two season one being Jerome Simpson who is no longer on the team, Robert Sands who I expect the Bengals to cut because of his actions, and Andre Smith who forgot his handgun was in his luggage. You can’t convince me that Smith was dumb enough to try to smuggle a gun onto a plane much less do anything with it.

So are the Bengals going back to the “Bungles”?

No.

It was just one player who made a little mistake. We’ve all made them. I really hope this doesn’t affect contract talks at all for Smith because he was arguably the best right tackle in football last season and I would love to have him back.
