There is one potential dark-horse emerging that could steal Jackson away, and that is the Dallas Cowboys, who are desperately trying to convince HC Jason Garret to relinquish his play-calling duties and hire an OC, and Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com believes Jackson would become a candidate for that role:
The Cowboys could go outside the organization by possibly Hue Jackson, or waiting until the Baltimore Ravens season ends and go after Jim Caldwell.
Jackson returning to Cincinnati would and becoming the OC after next year would be vital in preventing any stunts in the growth of Andy Dalton, A.J. Green, Mohamed Sanu, and the rest of the talented-but-raw Bengals offense.
Jackson originally joined the Bengals staff in the 2012 offseason after one season as the Oakland Raiders Head Coach. With Jackson’s help, the Bengals offense rose from 18th in scoring in 2011 to 12th in 2012.
