Newly signed outside linebacker Aaron Maybin was happy to join the Bengals, not just because they’re an up-and-coming contender, but because he wanted to play for head coach Marvin Lewis

It is a great opportunity to play for Marvin Lewis. Growing up in Baltimore I got a chance to watch his defenses with the Ravens and how they played.

Geoff Hobson also said the Bengals coaches are planning on playing him at strong-side linebacker and and having him rush the passer on third downs.

Maybin is excited because he’s been told the Bengals are going to line him up at SAM backer and bring him down to rush off the edge in passing situations. It’s a position he never played with any kind of regularity in his stints with the Bills and Jets and it’s one that he thinks will show he’s more versatile than conventional wisdom that says he’s undersized and can only rush the passer.
