• For this year’s Super Bowl, American singer, songwriter, dancer and actress Beyoncé will perform at halftime. In Super Bowl I, the halftime entertainment consisted of the Universities of Arizona and Michigan Bands.
• The Bridgestone Super Bowl XLVI halftime show last year featuring Madonna was watched by an average of 112.6 million viewers, making it the most-watched Super Bowl halftime ever, surpassing Michael Jackson’s halftime performance in 1993.
• Phil Simms, the former Giants quarterback who was the MVP of Super Bowl XXI, will be the analyst (with play-by-play man Jim Nantz) for CBS’ broadcast of the game. It will be Simms’ seventh turn as a Super Bowl analyst. That is the second-most in history after John Madden’s 11.
