With the NFL season now over, teams and fans alike are looking ahead to the off season. The most exciting part of the off season for most people is the NFL draft. Now it is very hard to mock an accurate draft before the combine, but we will do one now and then do another one post combine and see how similar they look. I will be doing a full 6round mock, since the Bengals traded their 7th rounder for Taylor Mays.

”"21. Cincinnati Bengals – Alec Ogletree LB Georgia

The Bengals linebacker play, outside of Vontaze Burfict last year was really bad. Manny Lawson, Rey Maualuga and Thomas Howard are all free agents and Howard is coming back from a serious injury. Even if Howard is brought back, there’s no guarantee that he would be as good as he was pre-injury. Ogletree was outstanding for the Dawgs last year. He brings speed, athleticism and coverage ability to the Bengals linebacker core. He was a safety before becoming a linebacker. He would add a whole new dimension to the Bengals defense.

That mock draft 6 rounds is the worst yet. All the great picks and you probably got 1 potential starter from 6 picks……. terrible

    • Blake Meek

Ogletree and Thomas are starters. Also, just because Poyer, Franklin and Taylor aren’t labeled “starters” doesn’t mean they won’t have a huge impact on this team. I wouldn’t be surprised if Poyer beat out Kirkpatrick as a rookie. Gotta look towards the future too.

Hopefully the draft looks a little more like this:

    1. Vaccaro S
    2a. Bernard RB
    2b. Best Value LB
    3. Hunt DE
    4. Lattimore RB
    5. Mellette WR
    6a. Mathieu CB
    6b. Armstrong S

    • Blake Meek

I see Vaccaro as slightly overrated. Watch him against OSU. Randle abuses him in the run game. Hunt is falling down boards quickly after his poor performance at the senior bowl.

    • Blake Meek

I like that, but Vaccaro isn’t lasting till we pick, and I’d say Hunt is a 2nd rounder.

the draft SHOULD look like this:

    1. best WR available. Keenan, Corradelle, Deandre…. one of them

2a. Bernard…… If he is there, We need him!

2b. safety….. Reid, Rambo, Amerson. someone like that

    3.Chase thomas or better OLB

4.Mathieu cb……. he wont last to the 5th round

5.Marcus Davis WR or Cobi Hamilton WR

    6a.Sio Moore OLB

    6b.Nigel Malone CB

We should get an experienced safety in free agency and maby another linebacker also.

    • Blake Meek

You ready to give up on Jones and Sanu already I see.

Do we want good recievers or great ones?

        • Adish Pawar

Look, the best thing we do in WR situation is to get Mike Wallace in FA. Then we use our 1st pick on Kenny Vaccaro, Alec Ogletree is going to fall because of his DUI, maybe we can snag him in the 2nd round(Best look). Our next 2nd round should go to the best possible RB their, Giovani Bernard from NC maybe. These are our major concerns. We have the largest cap in the league, we need to use some of that money in order to have the Lombo trophy.

    • Blake Meek

Sio Moore isn’t getting out of the 3rd round. Probably a 2nd rounder. WR is not a big enough need to take in the 1st round. We need a LB and a S WAY more than a WR. Have to take one of the 2 in the 1st.

I’d spend that high 2nd on a safety before a corner, Reid might be there, or Elam. Am I the only one who wants Barret Jones? Bull rushes up the middle are still killing Cook, and Jones could start C plus backup every position. I’d be tempted to go S, C, RB with the first 3 picks, though if Ogletree is there you can’t argue against that.
