Max Montoya was one of the greatest offensive lineman to ever play for the Bengals. He was drafted in the 7th-round (168th overall) of the 1979 NFL Draft, and went to enjoy a 16-year NFL career, while playing in 223 games (started 203). After 11 years with the Bengals, he finished his last five as a Raider. When he signed with the Raiders for $1.45 million over two-years, it was the most the club had ever paid an offensive lineman.

Montoya was a four-time Pro Bowl-selection and played in the Bengals’ only two Super Bowl appearances. He made the All-AFC team three times, and was All-NFL twice. Montoya is regarded as one of the best guards in his era.

Montoya and his family owns Montoya’s Mexican Restaurant in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, as well as four Penn Station East Coast Subs in Cincinnati. He is remembered as one of the greatest players in the history of the NFL to don Bengals stripes.
