Baltimore Ravens veteran center Matt Birk has announced his retirement after 15 seasons today. The six-time Pro Bowler nearly retired last year but wanted to take one more crack at getting his first ring, and he was rewarded with a Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl XLVII.
Birk was selected out of Harvard in the sixth round of the 1998 draft by the Minnesota Vikings and played his first 11 seasons there. He’s been named to the Pro Bowl six times and the NFL All-Pro team twice.
