The Bengals have been unable to work out a long-term extension with defensive end Michael Johnson, and it will only be harder once free agency starts if other NFL teams share the same belief of CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco:
The more tape I watch of Michael Johnson, the more I am convinced he is the No. 1 guy on the market. Strong. Tough. Fast. Plays hard.

Bengals offensive line coach Paul Alexander is arriving at the NFL Scouting Combine today, and he’ll be meeting with the NFL Competition Committee to discuss new rules designed to enhance player safety, including whether or not to outlay the chop block:
It’s really an honor and a great responsibility to represent my fellow line coaches and offensive linemen well. We’ll see how it goes. We’ll offer our opinion.
Its part of the competitive balance between a blocker and a defender. It’s the only way we can really keep them honest.
