Bengals & Steelers Showing Interest in Steven Jackson

I’ll be upfront in saying to take the following with a huge grain of slat, but according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetterthe Cinicnnati Bengals may actually be showing interest in free agent runningback Steven Jackson:

Jackson’s athletic blend of speed, power and pass-catching ability would work well with running back Jacquizz Rodgers’ skills. Jackson is also reportedly coveted by Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Green Bay.

I’ve actually thought all along Jackson would be a great fit in Pittsburgh, who are still limited by their salary cap, but if Jackson believes the Steelers are enough of a contender to warrant signing a smaller, incentive-laden deal, we could see him in the AFC North as an opponent

Coming off of eight straight 1,000-yard seasons, Jackson is one of the top offensive free agents on the market, but since he’s 30 years-old and has played for perennial losers in the St. Louis Rams for his entire career, he may be ready to take less money to play for a contender. Don’t expect it to be Cincinnati though.
