During free agency, the Bengals can look to a few spots to become stronger at. This team is young, however, veteran leadership is definitely something that can help this team. One player that I personally would like to see the Bengals go after is Dashon Goldson. I know, we have heard rumors about this guy and the Bengals because of his interview, but it truly is a great fit. As he said, he knows some guys on defense here, and the Bengals are lacking some at strong safety. Although he didn’t play tremendously well during the playoffs, he was still solid and a Pro Bowl player.

Goldson is 28 years old and has been on a 49ers team that has a good defense and is a contender. The Bengals system would be an ideal fit and has cap room to pay him. Goldson is a very talented player and has come on recently. He has 9 INTs his past two Pro Bowl seasons and 3 fumble recoveries. The Bengals would get an immediate upgrade at safety and this move could make this team become the #1 defense in the NFL if they continue to draft well.

The Bengals have many pieces to put together, but are still growing. Also, the safety position is lacking depth. Nate Clements and Chris Crocker are free agents, and it’s time to move on. Also, Robert Sands should be cut (in my opinion). So Goldson adds depth, and the Bengals could take a chance at another safety in the draft, such as Bacarri Rambo. This move makes sense and helps upgrade this team tremendously.
