When it comes to free-agent Andre Smith, the Cincinnati Bengals should allow him to test the free agent market. So far, Smith’s market has been extremely quiet, even though he was rated as the best RT in the league last season. However, Smith has only started a full 16 season game once, and that happens to be this season. While Smith did extremely well, his asking price is a bit too steep. No RT has ever made as much as he is asking for, and the market may not like that price.

Smith may soon realize that his asking price is too steep for numerous teams out there. The Bengals will allow other teams to set a price range, which could very well help them out. The Bengals have done very well retaining their own players this offseason. When it comes down to it, the Bengals are playing this very well in allowing Smith to see what the market thinks of his asking price. All in all, he has a good chance of staying with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he belongs.

Agreed ! I understand the need to find value and to develop and keep your own, but the winners are those who know when they can match a great piece to a need and act to make it happen. It sounds like DG wants to come here which is a welcome change from just a couple years ago when anyone good couldn’t wait to get out. Can I have Cruz too???
